New Scale

I got my new scale on Friday.  I love it.  So far, it has been my friend.  lol.  I weigh 3 lbs less than I thought I did.  My official weigh in isn't until Friday.  So, I won't post my weight now.  I am loving PointsPlus.  I also like WW online.  It makes it so easy to track my food and points.  I am eating foods that are so much better for me.  Veggies, fruit and lean protein.  I am eating more "good for me carbs" and less processed foods.  I really think I made a good choice when I decided to sign up for Weight Watchers.  There are so many good recipes all over the internet that are low in points.

I bought a new pair of shorts for summer today.  lol.  They were on the clearance rack.  I got them a size smaller than I am wearing now.  I only paid $3 for them.  They fit....snugly.  I am gonna be able to wear them comfortably by summer.  Or maybe earlier.  ;)  I am bloated right now.  It's almost "that time of the month."  UGH!  Bloated and moody.  Being a woman isn't as easy as it looks.  lol.

We got our income tax refund back last Thursday.  I bought a food scale, a weight scale, measuring cups, measuring spoons and a 3 month sub. to ww online.  I am not going to be guessing about the amount of food I am eating.  Joshua needed clothes.  So, we got him fixed up.   He is  growing like a weed.

I am off the next 2 nights.  Thank goodness!  I am pooped!

Talk to you all later,

It's Broken! UGH!

My darn scale is broken.  Every time I get on it... it gives me a different weight.  I don't mean it's off by a lb. or so... no, it changes by 10 lbs or more each time I get on it.  I am getting a new one on Friday.  Until then... no weigh ins.  Weight Watchers is going well.  I think I have lost.   Just not able to document it until I get another scale.

Does anyone have a suggestion about the type of scale I should get?  Which one is the best??

My new friend is string cheese.  It is satisfying and it's only 2 PointPlus.  Love it!  Of course I love the 0 PointPlus fruit.  But, I am trying not to reach for an apple or a banana every time I have an urge to snack.  They are good for me...but too much of anything is not good.  I also found some flat bread crackers.  They are made by Town House.  I got the Italian Herb flavor.  There was also Sea Salt and Olive Oil flavor.  I may try that next time.  I get 6 crackers (pretty good sized) for 2 PP.  They are so flavorful.  And sometimes I just need something crunchy.  KWIM?  I am trying to stop my diet coke habit.  IT IS SO HARD!!  I have been reading about BPA in the news.  It is a harmful toxin that mimics hormones.  Or something like that.  lol.  I am still researching it.  But, I did find out that it is in soda cans and canned goods.  Such as canned veggies, fruits and tomatoes.  It has been linked to cancer and PCOS.  I am going to start buying my diet coke in bottles.  They cost more and will eventually help me quit all together.  I have been buying the "sam's choice" diet drinks because I can get them   pretty cheap.  But, they don't have that in a bottle.  I will have to go for the real thing.  And they are expensive.  I hate to spend a lot of money on myself... so, I know I will wean myself off of the nasty buggers.

I am loving the Weight Watchers online site.  It is so easy to use and it keeps track of everything.  My favorite part of it is the recipe builder.  I can take any recipe and plug in the ingredients...and I get the points per serving.  For me that is worth the money.  I signed up for the 3 month plan.  We will see if I can still afford it after that.   lol.

My baby lost his first tooth today!  He is such a big boy.  He is asleep right now with it under his pillow.  lol.  He wanted to go to bed when it was still daylight so the tooth fairy could come.  I had to make him wait until dark.  lol.  I usually have a hard time getting him to bed.  Maybe he should lose a tooth every day.  He was so cute!  Now he talks with a whistle.

Okay... I have rambled long enough.  I will check back in a few days...when I get my new scale!

Free Isn't Always Good!

I have a hard time passing up free stuff.  lol.  I have always had the mindset that if it's can't be wrong.  Well...I have started changing my mind lately.  I was browsing through an online freebie site a few weeks ago.  (Before I had decided to start WW)  And I came upon an offer for free Atkins bars.  So, I signed up for them.  I am not following the Atkins's too restrictive for me.  But, if it works for others...good.  Anyway...I just got the bars because they were free.  lol.  So, they came in the mail yesterday. There were 3 of them.   Each one of them was around 280 calories.  One of them would leave me hungry.  All three of them might fill me up.  That would be 840 calories for just one meal.  And when it came to the PointsPlus value of them... all three of them would have been 24 points.  I only get 29 a DAY!  lol.  I say all of this to make this point.  WW has really opened my eyes to making better choices.  Something about the points is easier for me than counting calories alone.  I am still keeping my calories journaled.  I am still eating within the healthy guidelines.  I just have an easier time now that I have included the WW points.  I guess we all have the things that work for us.

I still like free stuff....but, I think I have learned my lesson about free always being good.  lol.  I will think twice before signing up for free food offers.  :)

Have a great day!

Weigh in...Friday!

I forgot to weigh in yesterday morning when I got home from work.  I was so tired that I just went to bed.  So, I weighed in this morning.  I am down 2 lbs!  Yeah Me!   I am now at 205.  6 more lbs. to go to get to onederland.  It's been so long since I have been under 200.  I had gotten down to 180 in 2004.  Then, I got pregnant with Joshua.  Since I had him, I have been gaining and losing.  7 years is too long.

So, I have been reading lots of info on Weight and other sites.  I stocked up on fresh fruits and veggies yesterday.  I also got  a few cans of progresso soup.  The lite soup is low in points.  But, I will have to just eat it once in a while.  The sodium is high.  But, it will do when I am in  a hurry and hungry.  lol.

I did a lot of walking ( fast  paced) last night at work.  I also drank 40 oz. of water.  So, I got my exercise and water in for today.   I had some left over jambalaya for supper when I got home from work this morning.  It's funny...because my son and husband are wanting breakfast food at 7:30 am and I am wanting supper.  I hope to be able to quit my job... or at least cut back on hours around Fall of this year.  But, for now... we need the money.  And it's good exercise.  :)

Have a great weekend!

I'm Gonna Do It

I have gone back and forth on making this decision.  But, I finally decided that I am going to join Weight Watchers.  I have never joined any kind of weight loss group or program.  I thought about joining Nutrisystem a few years ago...but, couldn't make myself spend the money.  And not to mention my hubby didn't think it was a good idea.  But, when I ran the weight watchers idea past him a few days ago...he instantly said, "sure... I will do it with you."  We have decided that since I work nights and sleep days...that we are going to do the at home program.  And sign up for the online program.  I am using some of my income tax refund for this.  Otherwise, I wouldn't have the extra money.  Anyway, I should be getting started by next month.  I am excited about it.  I needed something to motivate me again.  The new plan looks sound.  It focuses on whole foods.   I like that.   I won't join a program that promotes packaged or processed foods.  I can't live on that crap.  And not to mention that it is BAD for you.  I also like the idea of counting points.  For me, it seems easier.  I have a lot of weight to lose.  And I want to lose it this year!  Hubby needs to lose a few, too.  He said he wants to lose 30 lbs. or so.  I have a heck of a lot more to lose than that.  lol.  I want to lose 60 lbs.  And then see how much more I want to lose from there.  That will put me under 150.  I am thinking that I want to set my long term goal at 130.  We will see.  I am so motivated and ready to lose this extra baggage.   And I am so happy that my husband is going to be helping me.  He is the cook in the family.  Having him "on board" will make it so much easier.  He can cook things that are "on plan".

So, I am going to continue to count calories until my materials arrive.  Then, I am going to be blogging about my weight watchers experience.  I can't wait!!

I will be back on Thursday to post my weigh in numbers.

Weigh In Day...

Since I am working weigh in schedule has gotten messed up.  I used to weigh in about mid morning.  That has traditionally been my lowest weight of the day.  lol.  Now, that I am getting home around 7:30 am... I keep forgetting to weigh in before going to sleep.  Same thing with taking my meds.  I have to take one before bed.  I keep forgetting to take it in the morning before bed.  lol.

Anyway... I was off from work last night.  So, I went ahead and weighed in this morning.  I am down 1 lb.  207 is the official number.  Not breaking any speed records...but, losing just the same.  I have been eating a bit more lately.  I have been so hungry!  I haven't been eating at work.  And then when I get home.... I over eat.  I have to find something to take to work that I would like to eat.  I hate to eat anything heavy because after lunch... I still have 4 hours to work.  And those are the busiest 4 hours.  Very physical.  I had been taking a bumble bee tuna and crackers kit.  But, I got burned out on those.  Well, I will have to check at the store today.  I work again tonight.... so, I have to find something good to eat.

I have upped my water consumption lately.  I need more to keep things moving in the digestion area.  I drink a lot of it at work.  We are allowed to keep water with us at all times.  The only problem is that I keep having to take a break and go to the bathroom.  lol.

Have a great day!

STRESSED?? I Know I am!

I found this article helpful.   I am guilty of emotional eating....  Thought I would share this with my fellow bloggers who may have the same issues.

Emotional Stress and Weight Loss - Emotional Stress and Its Effect on Weight Loss?

Author: AlexS88

Have you been aware of your daily chorus after a bad day at office? Have you caught yourself eating too much after a stressful day of work?
If not the next time you are under heavy stress, just be aware of your eating patterns when you are having lunch or dinner. If you do that you will catch your self binge eating or eating more than normal at lunch or dinner. This is the normal pattern when some one is under stress.
Did you ever bother to check why you are eating so much when under duress? This is a major bottleneck in our efforts of losing weight. We want to lose extra pounds and get that lean body that we all are longing for, and thereby increase our self confidence and self esteem, but here we are doing just the opposite when we are faced with a problem.
So, why do we eat so much when facing a problem? The main reason is that we are afraid to feel our negative feelings. So in order to avoid feeling the painful feelings we cover it up with food. Some times it can be alcohol or even sex. We are fearful of feeling our negative feelings fully.
If we are to get rid of this bad habit pattern, we must learn to be aware of our feelings all the time. Contrary to popular notion, feeling our feelings fully are a tremendous way of releasing the negative charge it has on our life. The more, we are willing to feel our feelings, the more we are open to healing ourselves emotionally. So the next time, be aware of your feelings before you eat.
Practice waiting for some time, about 20-30 minutes before you eat, when you are under stress. Try as much as possible to see how you feel before having lunch or dinner.

Name Change...

I have changed the name of my blog to reflect my current state of mind.  I still have PCOS and will post on that subject on occassion.  But, I have shifted my focus to weight loss.  Which in turn will get my PCOS under control.  I feel like I have been in a fog for the last year...and then one day I woke up.  Thanks to my followers and readers.  You guys are such an inspiration.

January 2, 2011

Well, I managed to lose 32 lbs. last year.(see previous post).  I am hoping to at least match that this year.  I know that I am much more active than I was last year at this time.  I am getting out more and meeting people.  Which is big for me.  I have a sort of phobia when it comes to meeting people.  Kind of like a social phobia.  I have a fear of what people think of me.  I think that goes back to my childhood.  (doesn't everything??)  I was overweight in school and kids made fun of me.  It's sad that I can't leave that behind now that I have progressed into adulthood.  But, it still haunts me.  I know it sounds trivial.  But, kids can be cruel.  Anyway, I am now working out in the public and am starting to come out of my shell.  My husband said that I seem like a different person.  lol.

I have to work tonight and should be asleep now....but, I am wide awake for some reason.  I am gonna be wishing I could have slept this morning when it comes time to go to work tonight.  UGH!

Did anyone make a resolution this year?  I made a resolution to not make a resolution about losing weight.  I do that every year.  I know a lot of  people do.   I want to try something different this year.  My resolution is to  BE HAPPY!  I am going to focus on being positive and serene this year.  I have let too much stress get to me.  I stress out about the smallest things.  And I fail to see the positive side of things until long after I have pointed out all of the negative aspects.  It's a bad habit and I need to break it.

Well, guess I will head to bed.  My weigh in is Thursday.  I will check back in then.

Results from the 24 Day JumpStart...8 lbs and 5.5 overall inches lost.
