What is PCOS?

PCOS(Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a health problem that can affect women's hormones. It is the most common endrocine disorder among women in their childbearing years. It is called a "syndrome" instead of a disease because there are such a variety of symptoms. No two women have the same symptoms. The symptoms include:

Excess facial and body hair
Thinning hair
Acne/Oily skin
Skin abnormalities (skin tags, dark patches)
polycystic ovaries
Obesity or weight gain
Infertility
irregular menstral cycles

PCOS is often mistaken for other conditions.

If left untreated... PCOS can lead to serious health issues such as:

Heart disease

Endrometrial Cancer

Insulin Resistance

Type 2 Diabetes

High Blood Pressure

Metformin is a drug often give to PCOS patients. A diet low in carbs, sugar and fat is recommended.
